Handley extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-15. They lost 16-4 to the Brentsville District Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 back in April.
Madyson Thacker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Thacker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Thacker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was I'Nez Turner, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Brentsville District, they pushed their record up to 9-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Brentsville District's side, they got a great performance from Bailey Dawson as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Natalie Marvin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. Ava Garza was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Handley will head out to face off against Rock Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Phoenix will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. Brentsville District does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
