Another player making a difference was Deja Hill, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Jackson North Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .850. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fayette Ware only posted an OBP of .500.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy posted their closest victory since May 1, 2024 on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Peabody 12-11. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Haley Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rylee Hidrogo was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Abby Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
With the win, Jackson North Side broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their record is now an identical 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jackson North Side has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jackson North Side suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Trinity Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Jackson North Side avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
