Ashton Pincock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Cedar Valley: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Brody Blodgett was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Spanish Fork fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Salem Hills on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Skyhawks by a score of 7-6.
Spanish Fork also got a good showing from Kayden Lambson, who tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits Lambson has allowed since back in March.
At the plate, Spanish Fork saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Pintar, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Spanish Fork has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Cedar Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Spanish Fork's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cedar Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. It's a different story for Spanish Fork, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Cedar Valley's hitters?
