Tristan Fanning looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Upper Merion Area's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Spring-Ford waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory.
Dom Ruggiero tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luca Cavaliere, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Witmer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Spring-Ford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
Upper Merion Area pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs across that stretch. As for Spring-Ford, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Upper Merion Area has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Spring-Ford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
