6A District 8 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Lafayette's Kylan Nelson rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 8 this season in his game against Henry Clay last week. Nelson scampered for 66 yards on the play and finished with 140 on the day as his team defeated the Blue Devils.
Lafayette moved up to 40 from 66 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 42-21 win over Henry Clay helped Carl Hayden's team improve its standing.
The Generals' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Garrett Peavler threw for 299 and three touchdowns and Tranard Chester had 160 yards receiving. Darius Hughes helped Lafayette's passing attack out by catching three balls for 55 yards.
Lafayette's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Generals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Peavler has thrown for 1275 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Chester has 22 catches for 424 yards. Nelson leads the league in rushing with 480 yards.
Madison Central led 6A District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on Dunbar.
