There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Wilsonville's senior Nathan Overholt, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Churchill's 58 - 20 win over Crater last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Deonte Jones. Jones earned four touchdowns and 248 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Jones as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
A
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Lake Oswego (3rd in the power rankings) took on Tualatin (7th) last week. Lake Oswego got a somewhat close 28 - 21 victory over Tualatin. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Lake Oswego actually slipped one place in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Central Catholic and Barlow last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 98 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Central Catholic claimed a 56 - 42 victory over Barlow. Even if it didn't bump Central Catholic up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Tigard (4th in the power rankings) and Tualatin (7th). This will be the second consecutive road game for Tigard. We'll see if it can add another positive mark to its record or if Tualatin can shake off its defeat and take the spring out of Tigard's step.
