Basketball Recap: Saint Jo Piles Up the Points Against Forestburg

Saint Jo had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Forestburg on Friday. The Saint Jo Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Forestburg Longhorns 61-28. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Forestburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brenna Briles dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Briles also posted five blocks, which is notable because Forestburg is 7-3 when she posts at least three blocks, but 4-7 otherwise.

Saint Jo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points per game. As for Forestburg, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-10.

Saint Jo will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Forestburg at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for Forestburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Gold-Burg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
