The Carroll Cougars will challenge the Clinton Prairie Gophers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Carroll's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
Carroll barely beat Taylor the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carroll let Madi Isley and Olivia Schroder run wild. Isley went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Schroder got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Schroder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aleah Savoie, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clinton Prairie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out West Lafayette 6-5. While the Gophers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Maddy Wessell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zelda Wampler was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Keera Grizzle was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Clinton Prairie pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carroll hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Clinton Prairie struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Carroll's way against Clinton Prairie in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Carroll made off with an 18-5 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
