The Cane Ridge Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Antioch Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Cane Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against University School of Nashville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Ravens put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-4 victory on Wednesday.
Jeriah Webb was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Grace Busby was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
Webb wasn't the only one making solid contact: Cane Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University School of Nashville only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Antioch waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Colts 11-2. Considering the Bears have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Arianna Mitchell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mitchell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Antioch let Maliyah Perry and Chiari Batey run wild. Perry went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs, while Batey went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits Batey has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avah Haynie, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Antioch's record now sits at 7-3. As for Cane Ridge, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cane Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Antioch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cane Ridge might still be hurting after the 20-5 loss they got from Antioch in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Ravens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
