Meade is 9-1 against Northeast since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Meade Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Meade and 13 for Northeast.
Last Wednesday, Meade was beaten by Broadneck 56-21. While losing is never fun, Meade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Broadneck is ranked 30th).
Meanwhile, Northeast took a serious blow against Glen Burnie on Wednesday, falling 61-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northeast in their matchups with Glen Burnie: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Northeast got a solid performance out of Brynn Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. It was the first time this season that Jones scored 15 or more points.
Meade has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Northeast, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Meade against Northeast in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 73-15 win. With Meade ahead 34-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
