After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Port, the Buchholz Bobcats were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Vanguard by a score of 39-30. Given Buchholz's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Vanguard is ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Buchholz's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tionna Wilkinson, who scored 14 points. Wilkinson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jamison Cardwell, who scored ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Vanguard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aniyah Hope. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Kenaria Dowdy was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Buchholz's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Vanguard, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Buchholz will be playing at home against Santa Fe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Santa Fe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Monday. As for Vanguard, they will head out on the road to square off against Citrus at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
