After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canyon, the Hobbs Eagles were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They walked away with a 60-49 win over Brownfield. With that victory, Hobbs brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Hobbs found their leader in underclassman Braylon Vega, who scored 23 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Vega has scored at least 25% of Hobbs' points. Another player making a difference was Jairus Turrubiates, who scored 9 points along with 14 rebounds.
The victory got Hobbs back to even at 2-2. As for Brownfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hobbs will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brownfield, they will be playing at home against Coahoma at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
