Braxton Berry and Parker Powell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Coram Deo Academy. The connection went for 95 yards, the longest such play in TAPPS Division III District 3 this season.
First Baptist moved up to 712 from 796 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 34-33 win over Dallas HSAA North helped the Saints improve their standing.
Garland Christian Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Berry threw for 435 and five touchdowns and Cody King had 181 yards receiving. On the ground Berry chipped in 108 yards. Marcus Ketter helped Garland Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching four balls for 106 yards.
The Swordsmen's Berry and King have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Berry has thrown for 1063 yards this season, while King has 16 catches for 385 yards. Joshua Wales from Highlands leads the league in rushing with 327 yards.
First Baptist and the Blue Angels played the most hotly contested game in TAPPS Division III District 3 this week, with First Baptist eventually emerging with a 34-33 victory.
