Leadership Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Carver is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Leadership Academy Falcons will get right back to it and host the Carver Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leadership Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season.
On Thursday, Leadership Academy took a blow against College Prep & Leadership Academy, falling 77-48. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Royals: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Leadership Academy got top-tier performance from Caden Ryker, who posted 21 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Landon Burleyson, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points.
Meanwhile, Carver earned a 52-44 win over Piedmont Classical on Tuesday.
Carver's win came from a few key players Leadership Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kejuan Bruton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiquan March, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.
Carver smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.
Carver has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Leadership Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Leadership Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Carver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Leadership Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Carver when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 73-69 victory. Does Leadership Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carver turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
