Waterloo and Colbert Heights are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Waterloo Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Colbert Heights Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Waterloo suffered their biggest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They took a serious blow against Rogers, falling 72-32. While losing is never fun, Waterloo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Rogers is ranked 89th).
Meanwhile, Colbert Heights' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hackleburg.
Waterloo's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for Colbert Heights, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Waterloo strolled past Colbert Heights in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 40-23. Will Waterloo repeat their success, or does Colbert Heights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
