Basketball Recap: Lakeside Christian's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

On Thursday, the Lakeside Christian Lions lost to Gulf Coast HEAT at home by a 50-33 margin. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Lakeside Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ayva David dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. David is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gulf Coast HEAT to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenna Baker, who posted 22 points. Another player making a difference was Audriana Colten, who had 13 points.

Lakeside Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9. As for Gulf Coast HEAT, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Lakeside Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Seminole at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside Christian is facing Seminole at the right time seeing as Seminole is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Gulf Coast HEAT, they and Braden River will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Braden River has won three straight at home, while Gulf Coast HEAT won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
