The Ocracoke Dolphins will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Hobgood Charter Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Ocracoke is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, Ocracoke was beaten by the Wildcats 59-24. Ocracoke has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Ocracoke saw an underclassman step up: Jami Martinez scored 16 points. That was a full 66.7% of Ocracoke's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Hobgood Charter can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Mattamuskeet 48-20 on the road. Hobgood Charter pushed the score to 39-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lakers had little chance of recovering from.
Ocracoke's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Hobgood Charter, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-7.
Ocracoke was taken down by the Raiders 48-4 in their previous meeting last Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hobgood Charter's Janiya Blanding, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
