It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the First Baptist Academy Lions had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Terriers, posting a 35-0 victory at home. The victory was familiar territory for First Baptist Academy who now have seven in a row.
First Baptist Academy was led to victory by Winston Watkins jr. and Sam Sparacio. Watkins jr. gained 86 total yards and three touchdowns, while Sparacio rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown.
The team lost despite holding First Baptist Academy to a paltry 239 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Moore Haven's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 12.5 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
First Baptist Academy has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-2 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.67 points. As for Moore Haven, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
First Baptist Academy has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Trinity Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Trinity Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Moore Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
