It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lake Minneola Hawks had no problem doing just that on Monday. They managed a 62-56 victory over the Eagles. The victory was nothing new for Lake Minneola as they're now sitting on five straight.
Lake Minneola got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Saunders out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 steals. Saunders is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Perry, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Lake Minneola's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Edgewater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Lake Minneola will square off against the Mustangs at TBD on Wednesday. Wekiva is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Edgewater does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
