Sanger has gone a perfect 5-0 against Reedley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Sanger will square off against Reedley at 4:00 p.m. Sanger's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Reedley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sanger's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Kingsburg by a score of 4-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Apaches.
Emma Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Samantha Guerra was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Sanger lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Reedley hadn't done well against Tulare Union recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Reedley won by a run and slipped past Tulare Union 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since April 26, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Kristyn Gordon, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Isabella Lucero, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Reedley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Sanger's record is now 8-1.
Everything went Sanger's way against Reedley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Sanger made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sanger since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
