Mountain View and Eagle are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mavericks will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mountain View comes in on four and Eagle on three.
Mountain View came out on top against Boise on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Brave with a sharp 12-2 victory. The game marked the Mavericks' most dominant win of the season so far.
Zach Dowdle looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Preston Flournoy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Perry, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagle). Everything went their way against Rocky Mountain on Saturday as they made off with an 11-1 victory.
Stephen Egan made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Egan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Lame, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Sam Palfreyman was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Eagle, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Mountain View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eagle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mountain View beat Eagle 7-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
