The Everglades Gators suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 66-15 loss at the hands of Coconut Creek. Everglades just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coconut Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abigail Theophile, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Theophile is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devonique Thompson, who scored 23 points along with two steals.
Everglades' loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.8 points per game. As for Coconut Creek, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Everglades will take on Plantation at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coconut Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Coral Springs Charter at 6:00 p.m. Coral Springs Charter presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Coconut Creek in Florida (Coral Springs Charter is ranked 174th, while Coconut Creek is ranked 371st).
