Football Recap: Baker's Rushing Attack Does It Again

Baker won the last time they faced Destin and things went their way on Friday too. The Gators walked away with a 34-22 win over the Sharks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Justice Baldwin was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 41 yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Straight, who rushed for 86 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Baker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 213 rushing yards in nine consecutive matches dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Destin lost, don't look at Junior Harris. Despite the final result, he rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Harris' longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.

Baker has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Destin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baker will square off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Destin, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pensacola at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
