Wyalusing Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 7-5. They lost 13-7 to the Northwest Area Rangers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this matchup were averaging 2.92 runs allowed.
Treanna Nickeson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Josie Ferris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
As for Northwest Area, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average this season.
On Northwest Area's side, Jenna Robaczewski and Natalia Ninotti were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Robaczewski pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ninotti tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Robaczewski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Robaczewski got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Ninotti went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Ruckle was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Hermanofski, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Wyalusing Valley has already played their next contest, a 9-2 win against Troy on the 21st. As for Northwest Area, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-0 victory against Wyoming Valley West on the 18th.
