The Garden County Eagles will challenge the Sutherland Sailors on Tuesday. Garden County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Garden County hadn't beaten Morrill on the road since October 2, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Lions since October 3, 2020.
Garden County was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16, 15-13.

Garden County found their leader in sophomore Kenley Dehning, who had 30 digs and one assist. Those 30 digs set a new season-high mark for Dehning.
Garden County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Sutherland hadn't done well against South Loup recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Sailors had just enough and edged out South Loup 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sailors have posted since September 13th.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Sutherland got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-14.
Garden County's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Sutherland, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Garden County took their win against Sutherland when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Sailors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
