The Alamosa Mean Moose will take on the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks in a tournament on Saturday. Alamosa is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Alamosa had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt George Washington on Friday. The Mean Moose put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 15-3 win. The Mean Moose might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.
Jazliin Garcia spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taelynn Kreps-Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Araceli Molina, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Alamosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain beat La Junta 4-1 on Friday.
Cheyenne Mountain also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Addison Gutschick gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Michaela (MJ) Ewen was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Alamosa's record is now 7-2. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their record now sits at 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alamosa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
