Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Molly Sather and Janelle Gyampo

St. Mary lost against North Raleigh Christian Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. Mary's Saints took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights.

St. Mary's loss came despite strong showings from Janelle Gyampo and Molly Sather. Gyampo dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards, while Sather posted 15 points. With that strong performance, Gyampo is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Emme Seymour was another key player, putting up two points and seven boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Raleigh Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khloe Moye, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Moye has scored at least a third of North Raleigh Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Rikard, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

St. Mary's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

St. Mary's has already played their next contest (against New Life Camp), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. North Raleigh Christian Academy has already played their next match, a 56-44 defeat against Ravenscroft on the 3rd.
