The Greater Lowell Tech Gryphons fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Lowell Catholic Crusaders on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 53-50. Greater Lowell Tech was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lowell Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
Lowell Catholic found their leader in underclassman Janae Holmes, who went 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 2 assists. Makayla Alexander was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Greater Lowell Tech's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-1. As for Lowell Catholic, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greater Lowell Tech will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeast Metro RVT at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Lowell Catholic will be home for the holidays to greet Academy of Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
