Myles-Mott Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Correa, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Chiles hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Bishop Kenny came up short against Fletcher on Thursday, falling 8-2. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colin Ulrich made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Chiles' win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Bishop Kenny, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
Chiles came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Kenny in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chiles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
