Brownsville has gone a perfect 4-0 against Jefferson-Morgan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Rockets at 4:00 p.m.
Brownsville's last matchup with Keystone Oaks could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. The Falcons lost 14-7 to the Golden Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 25th.
Johnathan Vasbinder was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Benjamin Vojacek was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Jefferson-Morgan entered their tilt with Mapletown on Wednesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Maples with a sharp 20-4 victory. Considering the Rockets have won four games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaymison Robinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Liam Rogers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Jefferson-Morgan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Jefferson-Morgan's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Brownsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brownsville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jefferson-Morgan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brownsville took their win against Jefferson-Morgan in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
