Basketball Recap: Aurora Young Key Part of a Team Effort in Bombers Win

Kenston won against South last Saturday with 45 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Kenston Bombers came out on top against the Mayfield Wildcats by a score of 45-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bombers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Kenston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aurora Young led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Those 21 points gave Young a new career-high. Emily Grubich was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Kenston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory got Kenston back to even at 7-7. As for Mayfield, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Kenston will venture away from home to take on Chagrin Falls at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Chagrin Falls is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. As for Mayfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Madison's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
