The Latta Vikings lost against the Aynor Blue Jackets last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Latta fell just short of Aynor by a score of 40-38.
Latta lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being J.P. Bley, who scored seven points. Bley continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Aynor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Tanyika out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Kamp, who scored 15 points.
Latta's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Aynor, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Latta will head out on the road to face off against Mullins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mullins presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Latta in South Carolina (Mullins is ranked 90th, while Latta is ranked 278th). Aynor will take on Ragin Prep Christian Academy in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at.
