After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Enumclaw, Auburn Mountainview was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Decatur Golden Gators as they made off with a 15-5 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Brynna Erdmann was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tessa Trippy was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mia Heigh, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Auburn Mountainview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur only posted an OBP of .333.
Auburn Mountainview is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Decatur, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
