Lafayette is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Heritage is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lafayette Rams will take on the Heritage Hurricanes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Lafayette rose to the challenge on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 41-7 victory over the Titans at home. The result was nothing new for Lafayette, who have now won nine matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Heritage gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took down Hopewell 23-6.
Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyree Wilson, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Wilson's longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards. Another player making a difference was Derrick Gurley jr, who threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Their wins bumped Lafayette to 10-2 and Lake Taylor to 6-6.
Everything came up roses for Lafayette against Heritage when the teams last played back in November of 2015 as the team secured a 41-13 win. Does Lafayette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
