Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Oakbrook Prep has not done well against Spartanburg Christian Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Oakbrook Prep strolled past Spartanburg Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. Given Oakbrook Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Spartanburg Christian Academy is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 73-41 victory over Palmetto Christian Academy on the road. The score was close at the half, but Northside Christian Academy pulled away in the second half with 45 points.
Hilton Dessausure was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Cade McNeil was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Oakbrook Prep's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Northside Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Oakbrook Prep skirted past Northside Christian Academy 56-53 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Oakbrook Prep repeat their success, or does Northside Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
