Baseball Recap: Northeast Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kenwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeast). They blew past the Kenwood Knights 15-5 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2021.

Jackson Meece made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northeast is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-13 otherwise. Meece was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Isaiah Robinson was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Northeast's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-14 when he doesn't). Jamarion Green was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles.

Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenwood only managed four hits.

Northeast's win bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Kenwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will square off against Springfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kenwood, they will face off against Dickson County at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
