Baseball Recap: Culver Community Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oregon-Davis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Culver Community). They put the hurt on the Oregon-Davis Bobcats with a sharp 15-1 win on Wednesday. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Camran Whitworth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Culver Community is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Jonas McCuen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb McCuen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Culver Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Culver Community's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Oregon-Davis, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Oregon-Davis will take on Caston at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Culver Community will be paying especially close attention to the Bobcats' match: after the Bobcats face off against the Comets, they'll take on Culver Community again at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
