Southeast Alamance enjoyed a cozy 65-51 win over Jordan-Matthews on Friday. Southeast Alamance pushed the score to 53-31 by the end of the third, a deficit Jordan-Matthews cut but never quite recovered from.
Southeast Alamance found their leader in underclassman Jerry Sims, who scored 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Sims hasn't dropped below three steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Davian Edwards, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Jordan-Matthews lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brennen Oldham. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Zaeon Auguste was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
The win got Southeast Alamance back to even at 10-10. As for Jordan-Matthews, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Southeast Alamance will head out on the road to face off against Bartlett Yancey at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Alamance is facing Bartlett Yancey at the right time seeing as Bartlett Yancey is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Jordan-Matthews, they will be playing at home against Chatham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Averaging 68.26 points so far this season, Chatham Central's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Jordan-Matthews better be ready for a challenge.
