Northwest Guilford came into this matchup off a tough 21-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Mount Tabor Spartans by a score of 29-27 on Friday. On the bright side, the 27- point effort marked the Vikings' highest-scoring contest to date.

Despite the loss, Northwest Guilford had strong showings from Rakem Hammock, who picked up 176 receiving yards and one score, and Ferrell Price, who threw for 316 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Adam Reavis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first receiving yards of the season.

Jayden Muhfooth Smith produced another solid performance rushing for 96 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also picking up 66 receiving yards for Mount Tabor.

Northwest Guilford is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Mount Tabor, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Northwest Guilford and Mount Tabor will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Vikings see the field they'll take on Reagan at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Mount Tabor, their break will end when they face North Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
