Rector faced Midland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 40-20 victory. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 74-44 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.
