V Section I recap Nov. 7, 2012
Jeff Brownlee and Oscar Nunez provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Arizona Lutheran Academy. The connection was good for 75 yards, the longest such play in V Section I this season.
St. Johns extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Phoenix Christian, 49-27. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
6-foot-4 quarterback Brownlee of Williams is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1661. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. On the ground, Hopi's Blake Sekaquaptewa has rushed for 1239 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Sekaquaptewa. The Hopi star has 36 catches for 600 yards.
In 94 carries Joaquin Salaz has accumulated 912 yard this year.
St. Johns made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,084 from 6,076. The advance stemmed from a 49-27 victory over the Cougars last week.
