Baseball Recap: Karns City Has No Trouble Against Hickory

Karns City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hickory, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Gremlins put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 10-0 win on Friday. The Gremlins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Mason Sherwin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sherwin was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Joey O'Donnell was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Kelly, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Karns City and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Hickory, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Karns City will face off against Keystone at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Gremlins are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hickory, they will challenge Grove City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Eagles will have lost seven straight heading into Monday's contest.
