Temple City has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Pasadena recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rams will challenge the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Temple City has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Temple City is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs last Friday, they were much more limited against La Canada on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to the Spartans. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Temple City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Iliannie Carrillo, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between South Pasadena and Monrovia, and South Pasadena kept the tradition alive. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 14-4 on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucia Atencio spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Natalie Kan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Racquel Dominguez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
South Pasadena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monrovia only posted an OBP of .269.
South Pasadena's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Temple City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Temple City came out on top in a nail-biter against South Pasadena in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
