Brookings suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 19-0 loss to Yankton. The Bobcats had been ranked 24th, but fell to 27 following the defeat.
The Bucks/Gazelles extended the longest winning streak in Eastern South Dakota this week by beating Brookings, 19-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Mitchell/Mitchell Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Larson threw for 113 yards and Landon Neugebauer had 47 yards receiving. On the ground Neugebauer chipped in 42 yards. Evan Mastel helped Mitchell/Mitchell Christian's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 44 yards.
Mitchell/Mitchell Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Kernels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Larson has thrown for 452 yards and one touchdown this season, while Neugebauer has 20 catches for 211 yards. Neugebauer leads the league in rushing with 162 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Huron takes on Brandon Valley. At the moment, the Tigers are in eighth, while the Lynx are in second.
Riggs led Eastern South Dakota in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on the Kernels.
