It's playoff time, and Melissa had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Aledo Bearcats on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 32 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Melissa got a great performance from Eloisa Maes as she struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Maes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Finlee Williams, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Caigan Crabtree also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
