League recap: River Valley wins, gets boost in standings

River Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in IV Section III. The Dust Devils vanquished Chino Valley 40-12 earlier in the week.

River Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Cougars, 40-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Derek Advocate put up the best numbers through the air as the Dust Devils beat Chino Valley. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 247 yards and four touchdowns. Advocate's favorite target this week was Matt Cronn, who caught four passes for 108 yards.

Titan Jones was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 177 yards on 28 carries as Wickenburg defeated Walden Grove. Tyler Klinedinst also contributed to the rushing game with 62 yards on the ground.

Capirchio was the best wideout in IV Section III this week as the Falcons bested Walden Grove. Capirchio racked up three receptions for 112 yards. Taylor Tackett helped Fountain Hills' passing attack out by catching seven balls for 65 yards.

6-foot-1 quarterback Advocate of River Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1399. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Buckeye's Jabril Taylor has rushed for 1594 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Capirchio. The Fountain Hills star has 41 catches for 848 yards.

Brandon Long of the the Dust Devils is only 22 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 146 carries Long has accumulated 978 yard this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wranglers take on Estrella Foothills. At the moment, Wickenburg is in ninth, while the Wolves are in third.

Payson and Coronado played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Payson eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory.
