The Starkville Academy Volunteers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Heritage Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Starkville Academy in their matchups with Heritage Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Starkville Academy still got an impressive performance from Luke McKenzie, who scored 14 points.
Starkville Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Heritage Academy, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starkville Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Columbus Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th. As for Heritage Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pillow Academy at 7:45 p.m. on January 31st. Pillow Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Heritage Academy is ranked 21st).
