Lemont has gone a perfect 7-0 against Blue Island Eisenhower recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lemont HS will host the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Lemont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Lemont's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Argo 2-0. The Lemont HS haven't had any issues with the Argonauts recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Not much got past Mila Mardjetko, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Argo off the board.
On the hitting side, Lemont's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Lagan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Lemont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Blue Island Eisenhower, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 13-3 win on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cardinals' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Kennedy's batters probably weren't too happy with Marisa Blackhawk, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up two walks).
At the plate, Sydney Clark was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 games. Lana Krapf was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Lemont's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, their win bumped their record up to 9-16.
Blue Island Eisenhower's pitching crew better be locked in on Thursday. Lemont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. It's a different story for Blue Island Eisenhower, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Lemont in the park?
