Even though the James Island Trojans have not done well against the Wando Warriors recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. James Island took down Wando 55-39. Given James Island's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Wando is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andrea Duncan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 12 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of James Island's points. Another player making a difference was Alaina Graf, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Wando lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isabel Waite. Despite the final result, she scored 10 points along with 3 steals. Selah George was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 9 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for James Island and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Wando, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
James Island will head out on the road to face off against Stall at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wando, they will be playing at home against Bishop England at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
