The New Manna Christian Wind just played last night, but they'll still head out to face Gospel Light Christian at 5:00 p.m. on February 13th. New Manna Christian will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Monday, New Manna Christian's defense stepped up to hand Victory Christian Academy a 1-0 shutout. Given New Manna Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Victory Christian Academy is ranked 569th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Gospel Light Christian struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (Union Grove Christian had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gospel Light Christian fell to Union Grove Christian 47-41. Gospel Light Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Gospel Light Christian saw an underclassman step up: Maggie Jo Church dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Church hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Noelle Nelson, who scored eight points along with five assists and two steals.
New Manna Christian's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Gospel Light Christian, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-12.
New Manna Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Gospel Light Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 45-37. Does New Manna Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gospel Light Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
